Time Out, Inc. is the proper name of the Payson, AZ organization operating Time Out Shelter & Services in Mission-driven activities and Time Out Thrift Store & Books as a revenue source and public outreach location. The shelter is at a discrete location in Payson, a mile-high town in the rugged Rim Country of central Arizona, 90 minutes north of Mesa and the Phoenix Metro Area. While Payson is Gila County's largest town, the area containing Payson, Star Valley, Strawberry, Pine, Tonto Basin - a total of about 50 unincorporated named communities and small towns that are best defined as Northern Gila County, an area bigger than the state of Rhode Island - still contains fewer than 20,000 residents. This is our service area. The remote location puts Time Out, Inc. more than an hour and a half from any other domestic violence services and also from many organizations that could offer support to our clients. The beauty of our mountain home is some consolation for the hardship that time, distance, and lack of services can place on both staff and clients as we seek to create a trauma-informed, safe place for clients seeking emergency shelter, as well as those in the community who continue to utilize our support through their healing and reestablishment.
